Facilities

The Spirit of Chartwell enjoys an exclusive club feel with this atmosphere shared across her amenities and facilities.

The Somerset Maugham Piano Bar features a baby grand piano and a well-stocked bar with a range of drinks both from Portugal and from further afi eld. The rich wood and gentle, warm lighting helps nurture an intimate setting in which to share a cocktail or a glass of wine with the other passengers after a day of exploring the Douro region.

The George Bradshaw Lounge and Restaurant is where passengers enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner. Like the Somerset Maugham Piano Bar, the George Bradshaw Lounge and Restaurant embodies the essence of the 1920s, with its mahogany furnishings and its tables set against panoramic windows. The excellent surroundings perfectly complement the superb food and handpicked wines which the Spirit of Chartwell has on offer.

Up above and out in the open air, the Spirit of Chartwell's Sundeck provides the opportunity to truly drink in the wealth of sights of this majestic river. Here, deck chairs are set out along the ship for soaking up the sun, and it is up here where you enjoy your welcome sunset cocktail along with a Portuguese barbecue. This is also the best place on board to enjoy the final harbour cruise in Porto, as you take in the lights of this charming city.

Dining

With any river cruise, dining is a vital part of the experience. On the Spirit of Chartwell, meals are taken in the George Bradshaw Lounge and Restaurant on the Saloon Deck. Continuing the ship's luxurious ambience, the restaurant features private and shared dining arrangements, with two-person booths for an intimate dinner, and tables serving up to eight for a more social affair. Great care has been taken to showcase the scenery the Spirt of Chartwell passes through, with large windows to watch the vineyards, hills and villages of Portugal float by.

Your on-board cuisine is produced with Portuguese culinary culture in mind, making use of local, fresh produce picked up at each docking point. To accompany your meals, a selected range of beers, wines and soft drinks are included with lunch and dinner. After the Captain's Dinner, your experience is heightened by the beautiful music of a professional folk band playing traditional Portuguese songs.

Your Cabin

There are 15 cabins on board the Spirit of Chartwell, made up of 14 classic staterooms and 1 Royal Suite.

Each stateroom is decorated in superb style, with gentle mahogany finishing, tasteful furnishings and all of the necessary amenities. All are twin cabins and feature a private bathroom with a power shower. Other amenities include air-conditioning, a hairdryer and a HD satellite television. A special touch for many of the stateroom are the wall lights, taken from the magnifi cent SS France cruise ship, famous as one of the longest cruise ships ever.

The Royal Suite

The Royal Suite is found on the Saloon Deck, offering a better on board location closer to the restaurant and lounge, as well as superb views out onto the river and its charming villages, vineyards and farmlands. This suite is more spacious, with a larger, more prominent window, an elegant double bed and an extensive seating area.
